Shinfield residents flocked to School Green on Saturday 13th for a lively Community BBQ and Fun Day, enjoying food, music, and traditional entertainment while raising more than £2,500 for Shinfield Community Church.

The event, which ran throughout the afternoon, offered something for all ages. Families made the most of the sunshine with bouncy castles and children’s games, while stalls selling homemade cakes and treats added to the festive atmosphere. A raffle with generous prizes from local businesses proved a popular draw, helping to boost fundraising totals.

Live music performances created a vibrant backdrop, and visitors were treated to a colourful display from Morris Dancers, who brought energy and tradition to the green.

Community guests described the day as one of the most successful to date, both in turnout and in funds raised. The £2,500 total will help the Church Building Fund to continue providing vital services and activities for residents across Shinfield.

With good weather, a buzzing atmosphere, and a strong show of community spirit, the day was hailed as a clear example of Shinfield at its best.
