Police tackle shoplifting in theft hotspot

Wokingham South’s Neighbourhood Team have recently taken part in a new scheme that tackles shoplifters.

The team was focused on the Co-Op in Shinfield and had a positive result whereby two individuals were arrested for shoplifting

As a local community, if you witness any shoplifting, please either tell a member of staff or report this through the proper channels so we can deal with this as robustly as we can.

Sadly Facebook groups will not notify the police and they cannot do anything with this.

A spokesperson said "We are aware of the problems at the Co-Op in Shinfield, and we will continue working closely with the shop to achieve positive results.

"Thank you to the members of public who do report these crimes to us, they are taken seriously and with the right evidence, these suspects are formally investigated and prosecuted."
